Marion CI Release Paths
Marion Correctional Institution is an FDC men's prison at 3269 NW 105th Street in Ocala. The Marion Work Camp is an adjacent satellite. Placement at the work camp remains state custody, even when a work assignment differs from the main institution. Moving between the camp and main unit is not a release. A move to another FDC institution also remains a transfer inside the same state system.
A departure becomes a released-person event when the FDC history records release from prison, a supervision segment begins, or the sentence reaches discharge. “Release” and “discharge” are not interchangeable. Release may place a person in the community under probation, conditional release, parole, community control, or another supervision type. Discharge means the relevant prison or supervision obligation ended. Read the incarceration and community-supervision histories together before deciding which event occurred.
Confirm Marion CI Release Status
Start with FDC's Inmate Release Information Search. It covers people already released or scheduled for release and is updated nightly. A six-character DC number is the strongest search key. When only a name is known, use the alias option when useful and compare date of birth, physical details, photograph, offenses, sentence data, and incarceration history.
Use this order to interpret the result:
- Confirm identity and DC number, not just a name.
- Read the current location or status and prison sentence history.
- Look for a past release date rather than a future tentative date.
- Open community-supervision history to see whether an active segment followed prison.
- If a field is missing or certification is needed, contact FDC Admission and Release or request the underlying record.
A current institution or a future Tentative Release Date means the person is still in FDC custody. A past release entry can show that prison custody ended, yet supervision may remain. The Marion County released-inmate search explains why county booking records and FDC history answer different questions.
Read Marion CI Release Fields
FDC records commonly separate inmate population information, current prison sentence history, prior prison history, and community-supervision history. That design preserves the DC number across transfers. It also reduces the risk of calling a movement between institutions a community release.
| FDC field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| DC number | The stable state identifier across facilities and status changes. |
| Current facility or status | Shows whether an FDC location or another state status remains active. |
| Release date | A recorded prison release event when shown in past history. |
| Tentative Release Date | A projection for a person still confined, not proof of release. |
| Sentence and case data | Connects the state record to the correct offense, county, and case. |
| Supervision type and dates | Shows whether community supervision followed the prison term. |
The FDC search warns that status, location, and release information can change. Record the time of a lookup. If an immediate official answer matters, provide the DC number to the agency rather than relying on a screenshot alone.
Note: A different FDC facility name means transfer unless the state history separately records a release or discharge event.
Marion CI Records Contact
Facility contact identifies the institution, but statewide FDC offices hold the sentence, movement, and release history. Ask the institution about current facility matters. Send certification, computation, discharge, and historical record questions to the unit that owns those records.

Request Marion CI Release Proof
A focused state request may seek the release certificate, movement history, sentence computation, gain-time ledger, supervision history, or public offender photograph. The movement history is especially useful when the last known location was Marion CI. It can show whether the next event was another institution, a release, or a change in status. A certificate or official history is the better source when the public result lacks a field.
FDC's dedicated release search contains information and photographs for people released or scheduled for release. The general search and separate Supervised Population Search serve different functions. Search the release record first, then check supervision. FDC says release data update nightly, while the overall supervision set refreshes weekly and certain location or termination changes update nightly.
The official FDC facility records directory includes institutional material relevant to Marion CI.
The directory helps confirm the state operator and facility context, while release status still comes from the offender and records systems.
Marion CI Tentative Dates
Florida's forward-looking label is Tentative Release Date. Under section 944.275, FDC establishes a maximum sentence expiration date after lawful credits and projects a tentative date using gain-time granted, restored, or forfeited. New sentences, corrected jail credit, consecutive or concurrent sentence structure, disciplinary forfeiture, statutory minimum terms, and eligibility rules can change the projection.
A tentative date is not a gate appointment. For applicable offenses committed on or after October 1, 1995, gain-time cannot produce release before service of at least 85 percent of the sentence, with court-awarded credit for time physically confined counting toward that share. Historical rules and exclusions differ. Do not subtract a standard number of days from each month and treat the result as guaranteed.
The maximum sentence expiration date is also distinct. It reflects when the sentence or combined sentences expire after lawful jail and prison credit. A person-specific computation belongs with FDC because the public record alone may not show every credit, forfeiture, or statutory restriction.
Marion CI Supervision After Release
After prison, FDC Community Corrections may supervise probation, conditional release, parole, community control, or another sanction. Search the Supervised Population form separately. Match the same DC number and review the supervision type, start and end dates, and assigned office.
Marion County has Ocala East and Ocala West FDC supervision offices. The person's record and release instructions control which office applies. Do not choose an office from home address alone. The Florida Commission on Offender Review is the release authority for legacy parole and specified statutory programs, while FDC performs much of the field supervision. An agenda or hearing listing is not a final release decision.
When no active supervision appears, inspect the history for an ended segment rather than assuming no supervision ever existed. When the record indicates an absconder, that term means a person alleged to have left supervision without permission. It does not prove current jail custody. The listed supervision office, warrant source, and holding agency each answer a different part of the status question.
Marion CI Detainer Boundaries
A detainer is a request by another authority to hold or notify before release. FDC's record materials may include detainer history, but a detainer does not itself prove that another agency ultimately took custody. Obtain the movement or release record and follow the named recipient. The county's ICE 287(g) agreement concerns MCSO cooperation, not operation of Marion CI as an ICE detention center.
If FDC transfers a person to federal or immigration custody, describe the event as release from FDC to that authority, not as community release. BOP, federal court, USMS, or ICE information may then become relevant. No federal BOP institution or dedicated ICE detention center was identified in Marion County. Agency boundaries should stay explicit at every step.
Note: Search another custody system only when the FDC movement or release record gives a sound reason to follow that branch.
Marion CI Custody Context
Marion CI's Ocala location does not turn an FDC sentence into a county detention record. A Marion County prosecution can supply the judgment, yet FDC controls later classification, movement, gain-time, and release documentation. A person sentenced elsewhere in Florida may also be housed at Marion CI without a Marion County criminal case. Use the offense county and case fields to locate the proper judgment while keeping the DC number as the thread through state custody.
When court and FDC records appear to differ, compare the case number, sentence dates, jail credit, and later modifications. A corrected judgment may alter the state computation after commitment. The court supplies the legal order; FDC supplies its implementation in prison. Request both records when a precise release history depends on a later correction or an added sentence.
