Florida VINE is a custody-status and event-notification service. Official FDC material says it covers all 67 Florida county jails and the Florida prison system. That stated scope includes Marion County Jail and FDC institutions such as Marion Correctional Institution, Lowell Correctional Institution, and Florida Women's Reception Center. The service can report events including release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement when the participating agency supplies them.
Coverage does not merge every custody system into one record. A Marion County Jail result relates to the local booking. An FDC result relates to state prison custody or a state record. VINE does not provide the federal Bureau of Prisons locator, a U.S. Marshals Service history, or a complete ICE release archive. The reporting agency and facility name must be read before the status is interpreted.

Search Marion County VINE Records

- Open the best-supported record and note its status and event date.
- Follow the named agency's record when a release or transfer needs formal confirmation.
A Marion County Jail match should be checked against MCSO for the booking episode. An FDC match should be checked by DC number in the Corrections Offender Network. If no VINE record appears, do not infer release. Search problems, identity variation, agency data lag, or removal from the public VINE view can all produce a no-result.

The state interface is the correct starting point for a local jail or FDC record, while the agency label keeps the two custody paths separate.
Marion County VINE Result Fields
VINELink fields vary by participating agency and by record. The result should be read as an agency-supplied status snapshot, not as a universal release certificate. Availability of a release date or reason depends on the record. Capture the date the result was viewed because a live custody status can change.

A retained result may say “Out of Custody” and show an agency-supplied release event or reason. That label closes only the named custody link. If MCSO transferred the person to FDC, ICE, USMS, or another jail, the local VINE status may change even though legal custody continues elsewhere.
Register Marion County Release Alerts
Register only after opening the correct person's record. Select “Get Notified,” “Notify Me,” or the current equivalent. VINELink may require an account. Add the delivery methods offered for that record, review each entry, and complete the final registration action. Leaving the review screen without that last step may not create an alert.

Note: Register on the one verified record; an alert attached to a similar name can report the wrong person's custody change.
Confirm Marion VINE Release Events
An “Out of Custody” result should trigger one question: out of whose custody? For Marion County Jail, request the MCSO booking and release record and ask for the actual release date and time, release category, and destination or receiving agency. The Marion County released-inmate record path also uses the Clerk docket to match the order or disposition behind the local event.
For an FDC result, search the six-character DC number in the FDC Inmate Release Information Search. Read the past release information with prison history and community-supervision history. A person can leave prison yet remain subject to conditional release, parole, probation, or another state supervision type. A different current institution means transfer, not discharge.

Florida's Direct Victim Notice Route
FDC operates a separate Victim Notification Request for eligible victims. The form can register a victim in the FDC notification database and can send supplied phone information into VINE for automated calls about release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movements. This channel is distinct from a public VINELink registration.
The FDC form is not intended for a family member or friend who is not the victim. Such a user should use the public VINE record and its available notification controls. Eligible victims who need FDC assistance can contact Victim Services at (877) 884-2846 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.

The form supports the state-prison notification layer without turning it into a general-purpose Marion County jail search.
Separate Florida Offender Alerts
Florida Offender Alert is not the same service as VINE. It provides location-related alerts concerning registered sexual offenders and predators. The FDLE public registry likewise applies only to people who fall within that statutory registration class. Neither service is a general list of all released Marion County inmates.
Use VINE for a specific participating custody record and its release or transfer notices. Use Florida Offender Alert only when the person is in the covered registry and location notice is the actual need. Keeping the channels separate avoids treating a narrow statutory registry as a full jail release system.
Florida also maintains a separate Career Offender Registry for its qualifying court-designated class. A public record may include a photograph, designation, status, physical description, offense information, and reported addresses. It is not a substitute for VINE and does not cover all former inmates. Use it only when the documented case falls within that registry's legal scope.
Note: Absence from a special registry says nothing about the release status of a person outside that registry's legal coverage.
Marion County VINE Check Limits
VINE is strongest for two tasks: checking the status supplied by one participating agency and registering for future change notices on that record. It is weaker as a long-term archive. A record can change, disappear, or reflect an agency event without stating the full destination. Save the reporting agency, identifier, status, event date, and the time checked.
A county bond release does not call for a federal search. A documented USMS handoff does. Likewise, an FDC record is relevant when MCSO shows a state transfer or the person has a known DC number. Branching from the source record reduces false matches and keeps the meaning of each “released” label within the agency that issued it.
For exact proof, obtain the government record: MCSO's release sheet for the county jail, FDC's release or movement history for state custody, and the correct federal or immigration record only when the documented path reaches that system. VINE supplies the alert. The originating agency supplies the enduring custody record.
